Grant Guidelines

GCC raises funds to make high-impact, tangible investments in early childhood programs that support children living in underserved St. Louis communities.  For more information on previous grantees, click here.

Starting in 2019, GCC will provide two types of grants:

  1. Capacity Building – GCC offers grants for early childhood programs that request support in quality improvement initiatives.  These grants may be awarded up to three years with maximum funding of $20,000 per year.  Project examples include but are not limited to:

    • Purchasing and implementing research-based curriculum or assessments

    • Teacher or administrator professional development

    • Support in achieving national or state accreditation

  2.  Expansion– GCC offers grants for capital expenses to assist high-quality early childhood programs in expanding the number of children that they are able to serve by adding additional classroom space.  Expansion grants are one-time grants awarded for capital expenses with maximum funding of $50,000.  Programs must be able to demonstrate student achievement results. Project examples include but are not limited to:

    • Construction costs for classroom build out

    • Equipment and/or curricular resources to outfit new classroom space

A complete application must be submitted by September 1 of each calendar year for consideration for annual funding.  Applications will be accepted at any time; however, applications will not be considered until September of a given calendar year.  Awards will be made in October of each calendar year. Please submit the application found below AND the following supporting documents:

  • 501(c)3 Determination Letter

  • List of Board of Directors

  • Current Budget

  • Latest Annual Report
